What
is gender equality? For this is my first time posting, I am going to post about
gender equality and I will post about gender stereotypes in this blog. Under
gender (male or female) stereotypes, the lack of recognition of gender equality
is widely rampant.
Gender equality is a primary social problem which
has pros and cons in most countries. Some people discriminate people by
physical and sexual reasons. It is not confined to person. Of course, it has spread
through many groups of people and now, it is one of the most critical topic of
whole country.
I argue that both males and females must have same
rights. There are many discriminations and stereotypes for both sexes. A person
must be evaluated by his or her ability, not a gender. We can find many sexual
discriminations around us.
First, at home, females usually do domestic affairs
and they are dedicate to males, especially husbands.
Second, in the work place, female workers has lower
possibility getting promoted than male employees. And, her salary is usually
smaller than a male if they are in the same position.
Third, in the old western, females couldn’t have
the right to vote. The vote was given only to the aristocrats and the man. In
patriarchal culture, females were obliged to do the roles of housewife.
Exempting these cases, there have been many
discriminations until today. Of course, with a mature civic awareness, the
number of gender discriminations are declining. But we should keep trying to
resolve this issue and live in more egalitarian society.
Above cases can be stereotypes and we have to
recognize that the stereotypes are not the truth. We have to focus on each
person itself. There are many gender stereotypes under the gender equality issue,
and I will handle some cases.
At last, We don’t have to forget the saying “Don’t
judge a book by its cover.”
